David Welch
Dave Welch served in RAF photoreconnaissance units in Britain, Cyprus, and Kenya. He later qualified as a navigator and flew with many civilian airlines, including British Eagle, Britannia Airways, British Midland Airways and Martinair. He also served as a navigating officer in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, before qualifying as an airline pilot. Dave’s long career spanned numerous airlines and aircraft types, and many thousands of hours as both a navigator and pilot. Over the years, his photo collection has developed into a picture agency, and he supplies photos to authors, researchers, and aircraft owners. His autobiography, North Star, gives a unique insight into the peaks and troughs of both civil and military aviation in the years following World War Two.
